Patterns FAQ

Want to know more about my patterns and using them? Here are the answers!

Are these patterns free?

They sure are! I’d rather share them for everyone to use than lock them behind a paywall. You are free to use any of the patterns on my Patterns page and subpages. A link back would be appreciated.

Can I pay you for your hard work?

You sure can! Go here: Support this site. Money can help with site storage and materials.

Can I host them on my website or sell them?

No.

Can I modify them?

You’ll likely need to. They are fitted for a specific person I made them for, so they might not be your size. I am 5’6 so some things might need to be scaled. Just don’t claim the pattern as your own.

Where do these patterns come from?

Me! I draw all of these patterns myself.

Some are drawn freehand with pen, pencil, sometimes even permanent marker. These tend to be patterns fitted to a specific shape. When I draw them IRL as opposed to a computer, I can size everything exactly as I need to then scan them in and touch them up or piece them together.

A few are drawn digitally, mostly by tracing over reference art or concept art with a digital pen.

How big are these images?

Some are pretty dang big. They are scaled to size, scanned at a higher resolution, so I can drop them into a tracing program and turn them into cuttable vectors. If you print them, watch for any scaling your image software might have.

How do I use them?

If you have vinyl cutter software, often there are options to trace a regular image. You can drop the image onto your template and use the tracing tool to create vector lines.

Why aren’t the vector files provided?

Pretty simple, honestly. WordPress doesn’t allow me to host those file types.

Extended answer: aside from WordPress not allowing me to host them, I also use a highly specific plotter called a PrismCut. It uses a proprietary program, so my file type likely won’t work for your cutter. It’s easier to create the cut paths yourself.
