Book collection

Where do you get your books?

Most of my books are second-hand, mostly from eBay, though I do have a few new ones. Many of the older books have yellowed pages and some do have markings, dents, or stains. As long as I get my book and it’s not missing pages, I’m good.

For English books, I generally patronize second-hand and charity bookstores.

Why are you documenting your books?

I have a ton of music books I’ve been collecting over the years. Many of these I’ve had the worst time trying to find documentation on the books or the information is spread across multiple sites. I want to put them all in one place for reference so other fans like me can figure out what’s in a book or what books might be available, all in English.

It’s also a means for me to know what books I own and translations for the songs. I have a bad tendency to accidentally buy two books.

Will you scan the sheet music?

Unfortunately no. Many books say “No Copy” on the score and I don’t want to be slapped with a takedown order. I don’t see anything that says I can’t take photos of the artwork, at least.

Will you scan the artwork?

Probably not. For the most part, it’s that I don’t want to kink the spine. I generally make copies of my music since I don’t know how to turn the page and play at the same time but the margins tend to be grayed out. I never seem to get a good scan, so I’d rather take a decent photo than a bad scan to share the book.

Instruments

What instruments do you play?

Generally I play the piano or a desktop xylophone. I have other instruments in my collection, but I tend to play those two. Check out my instruments at Musical Instruments which also includes my fun novelty instruments.
