I’m very passionate about my magical girl anime, and Mew Mew was no different. I fell for Mew Ichigo first with her cat-like behavior and desire to protect the earth. And so I made a big puffy Mew Mew outfit with an entire petticoat stuffed into the skirt. The outfit also has real bells on it so I jingled down the hallways. I chose to do her anime style first because I liked the boots better.

Competition info

Mahou Shoujo Day was a small one-day convention in the Seattle area dedicated solely to magical girl series. When they expanded to all series, I wanted to take Ichigo with me. I found another Ichigo and a Lettuce there too. The contest was a small walk-on where you strutted your stuff to a description you wrote, kind of like how comic cons do walk-ons.

For my passion for the character and how much fun I had showing off all the bells, I received a Judge’s Choice award!
